Suluktu lies in Batken Region in southwestern Kyrgyzstan, on the edge of the Fergana basin close to the border with Tajikistan. The town occupies dry, rising foothills. Its street pattern reflects both the terrain and its planned origins, with regular blocks of housing set between ravines and rugged open ground.
Suluktu developed as a coal mining centre, and much of its growth came in the Soviet period, when mines and housing were built together. The mining landscape still marks the surroundings. The town remains closely tied to that industry, with roads leading out from the residential districts toward mine sites in the hills.
A Suluktu map poster combines planned order with rough terrain. Straight residential streets give way abruptly to winding roads that follow valleys and slopes. The sparse lines at the edges of the frame suggest the dry mountain country that surrounds the town on most sides.
The residential districts follow a regular Soviet-era layout, with straight streets and evenly spaced blocks. They form the orderly core of the map.
Around the town, roads bend to follow ravines and slopes. These irregular lines contrast with the straight streets and show how strongly the land shapes the place.
Suluktu lies close to the Tajik border in a region of complex boundaries. The surrounding map is sparse, with scattered roads crossing dry, open ground.
