Te mape
Takua Pa is a town in Phang Nga Province on Thailand's Andaman side, set in green country between forested hills and the coast. It grew as a centre of tin mining, and its old quarter, often called Takua Pa Old Town, still keeps rows of Sino-Portuguese shophouses along its main street. The town appears on the map as an older core and a newer centre spread along the main highway.
The Takua Pa River winds through the district toward the Andaman Sea, and the coast to the south includes the beaches of the Khao Lak area. The region has a long history as a point of contact on Indian Ocean trade routes, and the estuary has shaped settlement here for centuries. Around the town, plantations and forest cover the rolling land between the rivers and hills.
A Takua Pa map poster brings together the river's meanders, the linear old quarter and the newer streets beside the highway. The composition feels layered, like the town's history itself, with water and road running side by side. It is a considered image for residents, for families with mining-era roots and for travellers who have spent time on this coast.
The historic quarter follows a long main street lined with Sino-Portuguese shophouses, a clear linear pattern on the map that recalls the town's tin-mining prosperity.
The river meanders through the district toward the Andaman Sea, its looping curves forming the most organic line in the drawing and framing the town's growth.
The newer centre spreads along the main highway, a straighter and more open street pattern that contrasts with the older quarter nearby.
