Tynemouth stands on the north bank at the mouth of the River Tyne, and few places in England have a more dramatic outline on a map. A rocky headland juts toward the sea, the river narrows between two piers, and the coastline curves north into the broad sweep of Longsands beach. Behind the seafront, a grid of Victorian terraces and the wide main street run back toward North Shields.
The ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle stand on the headland. The site has been occupied for well over a thousand years and was later fortified to guard the river. Just along the coast, the Collingwood Monument looks out over the estuary in honour of the admiral who took command at Trafalgar. The North Pier stretches out from beneath the headland, built in the nineteenth century to shelter the river mouth.
A Tynemouth map poster makes the most of this meeting of land, river and sea. The North Sea fills one side of the frame, the piers draw two fine lines into open water, and the terraced streets form a tidy pattern behind the shore. It is a natural choice for anyone who has walked the pier, surfed at Longsands or grown up on the north bank of the Tyne.

A long breakwater reaches out from each bank at the river mouth. Together they draw thin, almost symmetrical lines into the North Sea and frame the entrance to the Tyne.
North of the headland the coast opens into the long curve of Longsands, with the smaller King Edward's Bay tucked beside the priory. Their soft arcs contrast with the straight streets behind them.

Aiheā Tynemouth
Coastal maps have a clarity that inland maps rarely match, and Tynemouth is a strong example. The edge of the land does much of the design work, so the poster reads well from a distance and rewards a closer look at the streets.
Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a wedding date or a family surname. Digital files cost $9 for six sizes, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
