Uriangato is in the south of Guanajuato, in the farming and lake country near the Michoacán border. From above, its most notable feature is that it hardly ends. The town's streets run directly into those of Moroleón, its neighbour, and together they form one continuous built-up area of blocks, small plazas and busy commercial streets divided only by a municipal line.
Both towns are known across Mexico for textiles and clothing. Workshops, factories and wholesale markets draw buyers from far away, and much of the local street life is organised around the garment trade. Uriangato is also known for its October festivities for San Miguel Arcángel, when residents cover the streets with elaborate carpets made of coloured sawdust and flowers.
A Uriangato map poster shows the town's traditional grid anchored on its central plaza and parish church, spreading outward and joining Moroleón's streets without a break. The surrounding fields and low hills give the print soft edges. It suits anyone who knows the town through family, work in the textile trade or its festival nights.
Uriangato's streets run straight into Moroleón's, and on the map the two municipalities read as a single continuous urban fabric.
The historic core is set out around a main square and parish church, with a regular pattern of blocks spreading out from that centre.
Beyond the built-up area, fields and low hills of southern Guanajuato surround the town and give the poster an open, calmer border.
