Yên Phụ is one of the older quarters of Tây Hồ in Hanoi, a thin strip of city that runs between two very different kinds of water. To the west lies the broad, calm expanse of West Lake; to the east, the raised line of the dyke road that has long protected the capital from the Red River's floods. On a map, the ward is defined by these two edges.
Between them, the street pattern is dense and irregular, a mesh of lanes and alleys closer to Hanoi's former villages than to a planned grid. Thanh Niên road runs along the causeway separating West Lake from Trúc Bạch Lake, and beside it stands Trấn Quốc Pagoda on its small island, often described as the oldest Buddhist temple in the city.
A Yên Phụ map poster captures a part of Hanoi where water sets the terms: lake shoreline, causeway, dyke and the tight grain of lanes caught in between. In black and white, the contrast between the open lake and the fine texture of the streets is especially clear, giving the print a strong sense of place without needing any colour at all.
The ward's western edge follows the curving shore of West Lake, Hanoi's largest lake, which appears on the map as a broad open field set against the dense city fabric.
A straight road runs across the narrow strip of land dividing West Lake from Trúc Bạch Lake, with Trấn Quốc Pagoda on its small island just off the causeway.
Along the eastern side, the dyke road traces a long, steady line that marks the historic flood defence between the inner city and the Red River floodplain beyond.

This is a map for people who know Hanoi from lakeside mornings, the causeway at sunset or a rented room down a narrow lane. It shows a small, specific district rather than the whole city, which makes it feel personal on a wall.
