Valley roads

Akçapınar lies in Tunceli province in eastern Turkey, a region of steep mountains, deep river valleys and reservoir lakes created by dams on the Euphrates system. From above, the landscape dominates. Settlements are small and scattered, and the few roads bend along contour lines and valley floors. The built-up area forms a modest cluster within that much larger terrain.
Tunceli, historically known as Dersim, is one of the most sparsely populated provinces in Turkey, and its settlements are shaped by altitude and water. Houses gather where the ground is flatter, orchards and fields occupy terraces and valley bottoms, and slopes rise sharply beyond them. Map lines here are sparse and meaningful, with each road connecting communities separated by ridges.
An Akçapınar map poster turns this quiet geography into a clean composition of winding roads, scattered buildings and open ground. In black and white the emptiness of the mountains becomes part of the design and gives weight to every line that appears. It is a map for people who know the place personally and want to keep its shape close at hand.
Roads follow the natural lines of valleys and slopes, curving and doubling back as they climb, so the network on the map reads like a drawing of the terrain itself.
Instead of a dense centre, the area shows small groups of buildings spread across the landscape, separated by fields, orchards and open hillside.
The surrounding highlands of Tunceli province leave much of the map open. This spare background makes the few built features stand out with unusual clarity.

A map of a small mountain place often means more than one of a famous city, because it records somewhere only a few people truly know. Write a family name, a village memory or a date in the title and subtitle, and keep the exact coordinates below.
