Amlapura is the capital of Karangasem regency on the eastern tip of Bali. It was known as Karangasem until it was renamed after the 1963 eruption of Mount Agung, the volcano that rises to the north-west. On the map the town is a modest grid of streets and walled compounds, with the terrain climbing away inland and dropping toward the sea on the south-east.
The centre is organised around Puri Agung Karangasem, the palace of the former royal house, whose walled courts show as clean rectangles among the streets. The same dynasty built water palaces nearby. Taman Ujung lies on the coast just south of town, and Tirta Gangga sits in the hills to the north. Both are defined by pools and terraces that read beautifully as line work.
An Amlapura map poster captures a side of Bali that most visitors never see. There are no resort strips, just a regency town, rice terraces on the slopes, and roads following the contours toward the volcano. Rendered in black and white, the ravines and field terraces around the town produce fine, rhythmic patterns that look almost engraved.
The royal palace compound sits in the heart of town. Its walled courtyards show as orderly rectangles, a small formal centre among the surrounding streets.
South of Amlapura, near the shore, the Ujung water palace spreads across ponds and gardens. On the map it appears as geometric pools set against the curve of the coast.
Inland, roads and rivers bend around the lower flanks of Mount Agung. Their curving lines give the upper half of the poster a sense of rising ground.

Ko e hā ʻa Amlapura
For travellers who went beyond the south of Bali, Amlapura often stands for the trip's quieter days: temples, water palaces, early mornings with the volcano in view. A map poster keeps that memory more precisely than a photograph.
Add your own title, a subtitle such as the dates of the trip, and the coordinates line. The five styles run from crisp Classic black & white to Paper and Sand, which suit the island's warm tones. Printed posters ship from partners in 30+ countries.
