Andrychów sits where the lowland of the Vistula basin meets the first ridges of the Beskid Mały, the Little Beskids. On a map, the town follows the valley of the Wieprzówka, with its streets running along the river and climbing gently toward the wooded slopes that begin just beyond the southern edge.
The town has a long industrial past, known in particular for textile production and for the Andoria works, whose name became associated with engines. Those industries left large rectangular footprints on the plan, set beside the older market square and the narrower streets around it.
