Antalaha lies on the northeast coast of Madagascar, in the Sava region, facing the Indian Ocean. The town is long and narrow. Streets run parallel to the shore, and the built-up area stays within a short distance of the water before the land rises into hills. On the map the coastline is the main line, and the street pattern simply follows it.
The Sava region is the heart of Madagascar's vanilla production, and Antalaha is one of its main trading towns. Beans grown in the surrounding countryside are cured, sorted and shipped from here. To the south lies the Masoala peninsula, one of the island's largest protected rainforest areas, often reached from this part of the coast.
An Antalaha map poster shows a place built against the ocean: a thin band of streets, a long shoreline and quiet ground inland. In monochrome the sea is a broad open field and the town a fine strip of detail along its edge. It is a fitting piece for anyone connected to the vanilla coast.
The coastline runs the length of the town and forms the poster's strongest edge. Everything else on the map is organised in relation to it.
The main streets follow the coast, with shorter cross streets running inland. This gives the town a linear, ladder-like layout.
Behind the town the street network ends quickly as the ground rises. That empty space contrasts with the narrow built-up strip along the sea.

This map suits anyone who has lived or worked in Sava, travelled toward Masoala, or has a connection to the vanilla trade. Its long coastal form looks calm and graphic on a wall.
