Aprelevka lies in the Naro-Fominsk district, southwest of Moscow, on the railway line toward Kyiv. On a map, the railway runs straight through the town and divides it into two sides. The station area forms the natural centre, with streets spreading out on both sides of the tracks.
The town is known for its gramophone record factory, which became one of the largest record producers in the Soviet Union. For decades, records pressed in Aprelevka reached homes across the country, and the factory shaped the town around it.
