Aubagne sits in a basin just east of Marseille, where the small Huveaune river runs west towards the sea. On a map the old town shows as a tight knot of lanes on a low rise. Wider boulevards loop around it, and the newer districts spread out along the valley floor, with motorways and rail lines running beside the river.
The town is best known as the birthplace of the writer and filmmaker Marcel Pagnol. The Garlaban massif, which he wrote about in his childhood memoirs, rises to the north. Since the 1960s Aubagne has also hosted the headquarters of the French Foreign Legion. Local workshops are well known for making santons, the small clay figures set out in Provençal Christmas cribs.
An Aubagne map poster turns the valley into a clear study in contrast. The dense centre sits against loose suburban streets, and the empty ground of the hills presses in from the edges. In black and white you can read the town's shape at once: a Provençal core, a river corridor and a ring of rock that stops the streets from going any further.
The historic centre sits on a modest rise as a small, irregular cluster of streets, clearly set apart from the straighter roads and larger blocks of the districts around it.
The Huveaune river and the transport routes beside it cut a single line across the valley floor, linking Aubagne westward to the edges of Marseille.
North of town the street grid stops at the lower slopes of the Garlaban. Open, almost blank terrain replaces built-up ground there, giving the composition a clear upper border.

Ko e hā ʻa Aubagne
Aubagne means something particular to Pagnol readers, to people who grew up between the hills and the Marseille suburbs, and to anyone who served with or visited the Legion. A map keeps the place quiet and exact. It shows how the town fits its valley rather than leaning on the usual Provençal imagery.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or the date of a move. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Digital HD files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster on matte paper, with a wooden frame if you like.
