Bartlett is a village in the western suburbs of Chicago, spread across parts of Cook, DuPage and Kane counties. It began as a railroad stop, and the Metra line still runs through the old centre, where the small historic downtown sits beside the station. From there, the map fans out into curving residential streets built as the village grew in the late twentieth century.
The village is named after Luther Bartlett, an early landowner who gave land for the railway depot. Large stretches of open space break up its streets, including forest preserves, golf courses and prairie areas.
