Ben Mehidi is a town in El Tarf Province, in the far northeast of Algeria. It sits on the low coastal plain east of Annaba. Its name honours Larbi Ben M'hidi, a leader of the war of independence. The plain around it is shaped by water. Rivers cross the flat land on their way to the Mediterranean, and further east lie the lakes and wetlands of El Kala National Park.
