From above, Boqueirão is a small, tightly packed grid of streets in the semi-arid Cariri region of Paraíba. The built area sits close to open, lightly settled land, where rural roads fan out across the dry plateau. On a black-and-white map, the dense core and the empty country around it make a clear, simple contrast.
The main feature on the map is the Epitácio Pessoa reservoir, often just called the Boqueirão dam, which holds back the Paraíba River.
