Busolwe lies in eastern Uganda, in the lowlands west of Mount Elgon. The land here is flat and low-lying, crossed by rivers and streams that spread into wetlands during the rainy seasons. On the map, the town appears as a small cluster of streets at a road junction, with tracks and footpaths running out into the countryside.
The surrounding area is agricultural, with small farms and fields surrounding scattered homesteads, and rice is among the crops grown in the wetter parts of the region. Much of the map beyond the center is open land, broken by irregular field boundaries and the curving lines of watercourses.
