Canhotinho lies in the agreste of Pernambuco, the transitional zone between the humid coast and the dry sertão of northeastern Brazil. From above, the town is compact and hilly. Its streets climb and curve with the terrain, spreading out from a central area where the church square and main streets meet.
The surrounding landscape is rural and uneven, with pasture, small farms and seasonal streams that run full only after rain. On the map, roads leave town along the valleys, and fine lines of watercourses cross the countryside. The agreste is known for this mixed pattern of farmland and hill.
A Canhotinho map poster shows a Brazilian interior town at its own scale: a modest urban core, the streets bending over the hills, and a wide rural setting around it. It is gentle and uncluttered, and it is accurate to how the place sits on the land.
The town's streets bend and climb with the slopes, forming an irregular pattern that clearly reflects the uneven agreste terrain.
A small cluster of streets around the central square forms the densest part of the map, and the town's road network radiates from it.
Thin watercourses cross the surrounding countryside, most flowing only after rain, adding delicate branching lines around the town.
