Canton is a large township in western Wayne County, about 25 miles west of downtown Detroit. Seen from above, it is organised almost entirely by the mile-road grid that covers much of southeastern Michigan: long, straight section-line roads at one-mile intervals, with curving subdivision streets, cul-de-sacs and shopping centres filling each square in between.
Interstate 275 runs along the township's eastern side, and Ford Road forms a major commercial corridor across its northern part. The Lower Rouge River winds through the township, leaving an irregular green thread of parkland and woods across the otherwise regular plan. Through the late twentieth century, farmland here was steadily replaced by housing, which is why the street pattern looks so consistent from square to square.
A Canton map poster turns that suburban geometry into something surprisingly graphic. The big grid gives the image a strong frame, while the looping residential streets inside each mile square add texture and rhythm. It is a good fit for anyone who has lived in the township, raised children here, or simply knows exactly which square their house is in.
Section-line roads at one-mile intervals divide the township into large squares, giving the map a strong, regular framework that reads well at every print size.
The river crosses the township on a winding course, and the parkland along its banks forms a loose, irregular line through the suburban grid.
Inside each square, curving streets and cul-de-sacs create intricate patterns, the characteristic signature of late twentieth-century suburban planning in Michigan.

Suburban places rarely get their own posters, yet they are where most people actually live. A map of Canton shows the streets of everyday life, from the school run to weekend errands, and makes a warm gift for a new homeowner or someone moving away.
Set a custom title and subtitle, such as your street or the year you moved in, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, then download files in sizes including 18×24″ and 24×36″ or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
