Cary is a village in McHenry County, Illinois, on the outer edge of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Fox River runs along its eastern side, and the land around it is gently rolling, marked by glacial ponds and wetlands. The Metra line crosses Cary on a diagonal. The older downtown streets cluster around the station, which is the historic heart of the village.
