Corinto lies in the northern part of the Cauca department in southwestern Colombia, where the Central Cordillera begins to rise from the valley. On a map, the town is a compact grid of streets around a central plaza, with the land climbing steeply to the east and flatter, cultivated ground stretching toward the west.
The municipality reaches up into the mountains, and its rural areas include Indigenous and farming communities. Small rivers descend from the slopes, and roads connect the town to neighbouring municipalities in the valley.
