Santa Ana de Coro, founded in 1527, is one of the oldest cities in South America, and its historic centre keeps the regular Spanish grid of the colonial era. Streets meet at right angles around plazas and churches, and the blocks are short and even. In 1993 UNESCO added the city and its old port of La Vela to the World Heritage List for their earthen architecture.
From above, the most unusual feature is the landscape beyond the grid. The Médanos de Coro, a national park of shifting sand dunes, stretches across the plain toward the narrow isthmus that links the mainland to the Paraguaná Peninsula. On a map the dunes read as open space, which makes the compact street pattern stand out all the more sharply against the empty ground.
Coro is the capital of Falcón state and sits a short distance inland from the Caribbean coast. A Coro map poster can centre on the colonial core with its tight plazas, or pull back to show the road running east to La Vela and the shoreline beyond. Either way it shows how the city has spread outward from the old grid into newer, looser neighbourhoods.

A protected field of sand dunes covers the plain toward the Paraguaná isthmus. It is a large open area on the map that contrasts with the dense city streets.
The route east to the old port of La Vela links the city to the Caribbean coast, where the shoreline closes the map with a long, clean curve.

Coro appeals to anyone who knows Falcón, has walked its painted colonial streets or studies the early cities of the Americas. The grid is simple enough to read at a glance, which makes it a quiet, well-balanced piece for a living room or workspace.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a hometown, a visit or a family name. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand echoes the colours of the nearby dunes.
