Custódia is a municipality in the interior of Pernambuco, in the semi-arid sertão of northeastern Brazil. The town itself is compact, a group of blocks gathered along the main road, while the municipality around it extends across wide stretches of dry land. On a map the settlement looks like a small, dense cluster set within a very large, quiet space.
The landscape is caatinga: scrub and low vegetation adapted to long dry seasons and irregular rain.
