Debark’ lies in the Amhara Region of northern Ethiopia, high on a plateau at well over two and a half thousand metres. It is best known as the gateway to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the park’s headquarters are here. Trekkers heading for the escarpments, deep gorges and high peaks usually begin their journey in this town.
Seen from above, Debark’ follows the main road that climbs north from Gondar toward the Tigray region. Most streets gather close to this route, with smaller lanes and paths spreading into the surrounding fields. The terrain around the town is broken by valleys and ridges, and the land drops away sharply toward the lowlands to the north.
A Debark’ map poster records a town defined less by its size than by its position. The road forms a strong spine, the town clusters along it, and the edges soften into agricultural land and highland tracks. It is a fitting keepsake for anyone who has walked in the Simien Mountains or who has roots in this part of Amhara.
The road from Gondar runs directly through town, and most of Debark’s streets branch from it, creating a clear central axis on the printed map.
Debark’ is the starting point for visits to Simien Mountains National Park, and routes leading toward the park head out from the town’s edge.
Around the built area, footpaths and farm tracks wander across the plateau, giving the outer parts of the poster a fine, irregular texture.

Ko e hā ʻa Debark’
Many people pass through Debark’ on the way to the Simien Mountains and remember it as the place where the trek began. A map of the town marks that moment, and it holds meaning for families from the Amhara highlands living far away.
Personalise the poster with a title, a subtitle such as the date of your trek, and a coordinates line, in one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
