The ancient harbour
On the west coast, the old harbour and the sacred way lead into the sanctuary. There, the foundations of temples and stoas form a tight grid close to the water.

Delos is a narrow, rocky island between Mykonos and Rheneia, at the centre of the ring of islands that gave the Cyclades their name. It has no town and almost no modern streets, so its map looks unlike most others: an irregular outline, a single low hill and a dense network of ancient foundations along the western shore, facing a sheltered channel.
In Greek mythology Delos is the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. For centuries it was one of the most important sanctuaries in the Greek world, and later it became a busy free port. The archaeological site covers much of the island, with the sanctuary near the old harbour, residential quarters to the south, and the Terrace of the Lions above what was once the Sacred Lake.
Above the ruins rises Mount Kynthos, a modest summit with a view across the surrounding islands. The whole island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and most people visit on day trips by boat from Mykonos. A Delos map poster shows an unusual kind of place: a city that now exists only in outline, on a spare, windswept island.
On the west coast, the old harbour and the sacred way lead into the sanctuary. There, the foundations of temples and stoas form a tight grid close to the water.
The island's only hill rises east of the ruins. It is low, but it stands out on such a flat, narrow island, and a path climbs to its summit from the ancient town.
A narrow strait separates Delos from the larger island of Rheneia to the west. It gives the map a clean pair of coastlines and frames the sheltered water where ancient ships once anchored.

Ko e hā ʻa Delos
Delos is for anyone drawn to archaeology, classical history or the Cyclades as a whole, and for anyone who has stood among its ruins on a still morning. On this map the footprint of an ancient city takes the place of modern streets, which makes a rare and quiet image.
You can edit the title and subtitle, add a date or a line of coordinates, and choose one of five styles. Paper and Sand suit the island's stone and light especially well. Printed posters come on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame.
