Ébolowa is the capital of Cameroon's South Region, in the forested plateau country toward the borders with Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The town is spread over low hills. Its streets curve between them and descend toward streams and wetlands in the valleys. From above, the dense forest around the town gives the map a soft, open border.
Close to the centre, a lake forms the most recognisable feature of the town plan, with roads running around its shores. On the Ébolowa map poster the lake acts as a focal point, and neighbourhoods spread outward from it along the ridges and main roads toward the surrounding villages.
The region around Ébolowa is known for cocoa growing, and the town serves as an administrative and trade centre for the forest south. Main roads lead north toward Yaoundé and south toward the border, and they form the longest lines on the map.
