Ein Karem lies in a green valley in the hills south-west of central Jerusalem, and its map reads very differently from the rest of the city. Instead of a grid or a dense urban mesh, the streets curve along the contour lines, climbing the slopes in loops and switchbacks, while terraces, orchards and woodland fill the spaces between clusters of stone houses.
Christian tradition identifies Ein Karem as the birthplace of John the Baptist, and the village is known for its churches: the Church of St John the Baptist in the village centre and the Church of the Visitation on the slope opposite, which commemorates Mary's visit to Elizabeth. Mary's Spring, a small water source, is another traditional landmark. Together these sites anchor a small, walkable core.
The Hadassah medical centre stands on a ridge nearby, and the Jerusalem Forest wraps around parts of the valley. An Ein Karem map poster captures this mix of settlement and landscape: narrow lanes, winding roads and the looser pattern of paths on the hillsides, all drawn in fine lines that follow the terrain beneath them.
Streets bend with the slope rather than cutting across it, so the road network appears as a set of loops and curves that trace the shape of the valley.
The Church of St John the Baptist and the Church of the Visitation sit on opposite sides of the small valley, two fixed points within the village's winding lanes.
Forest and terraced land surround the built-up area, and parts of the Jerusalem Forest border the valley, giving the map a soft, open texture around the village core.

Pilgrims, walkers and residents of Jerusalem all find something in this map. It shows a place that feels like a village within a city, where the lanes you walk up and down are drawn with the same care as the valley that shaped them.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a name, a date or a line of your own, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Files come as 300 DPI PNGs and print-ready PDFs.
