El Meghaïer lies in the northern part of the Oued Righ, a long chain of oases in the Algerian Sahara between Biskra and Touggourt. The town grew around date palm groves fed by underground water, and in recent years it has become the seat of its own province, El Mghair, giving it a new administrative role in the region.
From above, the built area forms a dense core of low houses and narrow lanes, with more open, orderly blocks added along its edges. Palm plantations press in on several sides as dark, finely divided patches, and beyond them the land opens into sand, salt flats and empty desert crossed only by roads and tracks.
The national road running north to south through the valley is a clear thread on an El Meghaïer map poster, linking the town to its neighbouring oases. The contrast between the fine-grained settlement, the irrigated gardens and the blank surrounding desert gives the map a strong, almost architectural shape.
Irrigated date gardens surround much of the town, showing on the map as a mesh of small plots and paths set against open ground.
Near the centre, narrow and irregular lanes pack tightly together, a pattern typical of Saharan oasis settlements built for shade and shelter.
A long highway runs through the Oued Righ valley, connecting El Meghaïer with the other oasis towns strung along it to the north and south.

Ko e hā ʻa El Meghaïer
For families from the Oued Righ and those who have moved away from it, a map of El Meghaïer keeps the shape of home: the lanes, the palm gardens and the road out of town. It also works simply as a striking graphic piece.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or the year you left. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, let the map suit any wall; Sand feels especially close to the setting.
