From above, Giza reads as a long strip of city on the west bank of the Nile, facing central Cairo across the water. Streets pack tightly between the river and the old agricultural canals, and the grid only loosens where it meets the desert. On the southwestern edge the pattern stops abruptly at the Giza plateau, where three pyramids and the Sphinx sit on open ground.
The long, straight Pyramids Road carries the eye from the riverside districts toward that plateau, and it is one of the clearest lines on the whole sheet. Closer to the Nile, the campus of Cairo University and the green block of the zoo break up the texture of apartment streets, while bridges reach across to Roda and Gezira islands.
A Giza map poster holds two scales at once: the fine grain of a modern city of several million and the plain geometry of monuments more than four and a half thousand years old. In black and white, the pyramids become simple square footprints at the desert edge, and the Nile becomes a pale band with the city drawn tight against it.

A long, straight avenue runs southwest from the Nile-side neighbourhoods to the plateau, drawing one confident line across the dense residential fabric of the city.
The riverfront faces Cairo across the water, with bridges crossing to Roda and Gezira islands and the Cairo University campus forming a large open block near the shore.

People hang Giza for a trip that finally reached the pyramids, for a family that comes from these streets, or for the pull of a place where a working city runs straight up to the ancient world. The map shows that meeting without any illustration at all.
Add your own title, a date and a coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the desert edge especially well. The digital files cost $9 and cover six print sizes, and printed posters ship on matte paper.
