Guadalupe sits on the dry central plateau of Mexico, directly beside the city of Zacatecas. The two places have grown into each other along the main roads and now form a single metropolitan area. On a map, the older core of Guadalupe appears as a tight grid of short blocks. Newer neighbourhoods spread outward in looser patterns across the open, semi-arid land around it.
The town grew up around its Franciscan convent. The convent was founded in the early eighteenth century as a missionary college, and today it houses a museum known for its large collection of colonial religious painting. In plan, the convent complex shows as a solid block at the edge of the historic streets. The small plazas and church fronts that open onto it give the old centre its shape.
A Guadalupe map poster shows a city defined by its connections. Wide roads run west toward Zacatecas, residential districts fill the gaps between them, and hills and arroyos break up the grid at the edges. Printed in black and white, the drawing separates the dense colonial centre from the lighter pattern of modern growth, so you can see how a convent town became part of a larger city.
The former Franciscan college and its church form the main landmark of the old centre. On the map it is a large, solid footprint surrounded by narrow colonial streets.
Main roads run west and join Guadalupe to the state capital. They form a continuous urban corridor, and on the map the boundary between the two cities almost disappears.
On the outskirts the street pattern loosens against dry hills and seasonal watercourses. The streets there follow the land's contours instead of a regular grid.

Guadalupe is often seen only as a stop on the way to Zacatecas, but people who grew up here, studied here or married in the convent church know it as a place in its own right. A map poster of the town keeps its streets in view in a home far from the plateau.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a family name, a wedding date or a neighbourhood. You can also choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the warm colours of the highland landscape.
