Hakha is the capital of Chin State in western Myanmar, and it is built on the steep ground of the Chin Hills at a considerable altitude. From above there are no straight grids. The streets follow the slopes in long curves and hairpins, and the buildings step down the hillside in terraces.
The town spreads across a bowl-shaped slope surrounded by higher ridges, and the roads leading out of it wind for long distances before reaching the next settlement. That remoteness shapes the map as well. Outside the town the network thins to a few winding lines across forested mountains.
A Hakha map poster shows a place defined by its terrain. The town is also known for its many churches, since most of the Chin population is Christian, and church buildings are an important part of the townscape.
Roads curve along the hillside rather than climbing it directly. They create layered, parallel arcs that show the steepness of the ground.
The town fills a sloping basin with higher ridges around it, so its outline on the map is compact and shaped by the landscape.
Only a few roads connect Hakha with the rest of the region. On the poster they look like long, twisting threads crossing the mountains.

Ko e hā ʻa Hakha
Many people from Chin State now live far from home, in other parts of Myanmar or abroad, and a map of Hakha is a quiet way to keep the hills close. The curving streets also make a striking composition.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, in English or in a romanised Chin spelling. The poster is available in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
