Mittelland Canal
The canal crosses the municipality in a long, straight line. It is one of the clearest, most graphic features on the poster and a reminder of the region's links to Germany's inland shipping network.

Hille lies in the Minden-Lübbecke district in the northeast of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a municipality made up of several villages rather than a single town. The map shows these villages as separate clusters of streets spread across flat farmland, with no single dominant centre. Country roads connect them, and fields, woods and wetland lie in between.
The Mittelland Canal, one of Germany's most important inland waterways, runs through the municipality and draws a long, perfectly straight line across the map. Its stiff geometry contrasts with the organic shapes of the villages and the curving roads between them. To the south, the land begins to rise toward the Wiehen Hills, the northernmost ridge of the German uplands.
The municipality also includes the Großes Torfmoor, a raised bog that is now a protected nature reserve and one of the largest remaining moorlands in the region. A Hille map poster shows this unusual combination of canal, moor, villages and hills. It gives a clear picture of the countryside between Minden and Lübbecke.
The canal crosses the municipality in a long, straight line. It is one of the clearest, most graphic features on the poster and a reminder of the region's links to Germany's inland shipping network.
This raised bog forms a large open area with almost no roads. It appears on the map as a quiet empty space, surrounded by the linework of fields and villages.
Hille is made up of several villages, each appearing as its own knot of streets. Together they create a scattered, balanced composition across the rural landscape.

People from Hille often identify with their own village as much as with the municipality, and this map shows all the villages side by side. It makes a fitting gift for family members spread across the region or living further away.
