Itanhaém lies on the southern coast of São Paulo state, facing the Atlantic. On a map its layout is dictated by the shoreline. A long, straight beach runs along the ocean, and neighbourhoods stretch out in parallel strips behind it. The grid lengthens along the coast rather than inland.
The Itanhaém River cuts through that line and reaches the sea in a wide, curving mouth, with the historic centre close by. Inland the land turns into lowland, mangroves and the foothills of the Serra do Mar, which frame the coastal plain with forest.
An Itanhaém map poster depicts one of the oldest towns in Brazil, founded by the Portuguese in the sixteenth century. Its old convent still stands on a hill above the centre. In black and white, the coast, the river and the long streets make a very graphic image.
A long, almost straight beach runs the length of the town. On the poster it forms a strong, clean edge between the streets and the open sea.
The Itanhaém River curves into the ocean near the old centre. It breaks the coast in two and adds a flowing element to the rigid seafront grid.
Neighbourhoods fill the flat strip behind the beach in long, regular blocks, stretching far along the shore toward neighbouring towns.

For families who spent summers on the São Paulo coast, or who live there year round, Itanhaém is closely tied to memories of the sea. A map poster keeps the shoreline and the river in sight every day.
Edit the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a beach house, a holiday year or a family name. Then choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, with Sand especially suited to a coastal home.
