Itapissuma lies on the northern coast of Pernambuco, on the mainland side of the Santa Cruz Channel. This narrow tidal waterway separates the island of Itamaracá from the continent. From above, the town's streets run up to the water's edge, and the bridge to the island is the defining line of the map.
The channel is lined with mangroves, and fishing and shellfish gathering have long been part of local life. The town is small and fairly compact. The main road leading to the bridge is its spine, and neighbourhood streets branch out from it toward the water and inland toward farmland.
An Itapissuma map poster shows a clear meeting of land and water: a town, a channel and an island across it. The mangrove edges give the shoreline a soft, irregular outline, and the bridge crosses the channel in a single bold stroke. Few small towns have such a readable geography.
The road bridge crosses the Santa Cruz Channel to Itamaracá island. It is the strongest single line on the map and links the two shores.
This narrow tidal channel curves along the town's eastern edge and gives the composition a broad band of water.
Along the water, mangrove areas create an irregular, organic edge. It contrasts with the straighter streets of the town.

Ko e hā ʻa Itapissuma
Itapissuma is where many people cross to the island, but for residents it is home, tied to the channel and the tides. A framed map captures that relationship between the town and the water.
Add a title, subtitle and optional coordinates line, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style makes the channel especially striking.
