Khātegaon is a town in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, in the broad agricultural country that slopes down toward the Narmada River. On a map it reads as a small, dense knot of streets surrounded by a wide pattern of fields. Roads leave the centre in several directions toward neighbouring villages and the larger towns of the region.
The built area is modest, so the drawing is made of short lanes, irregular blocks and a few longer roads that carry most of the traffic.
