Lupon is a municipality in Davao Oriental on the island of Mindanao, facing the waters of the Davao Gulf. On a map the town centre is a small, compact grid near the coast, with the coastal highway running through it and roads heading inland towards hills and upland barangays.
The municipality covers a wide area of coastal lowland and rising terrain, much of it given to agriculture, including coconut and other crops. Settlements are spread along the shore and the inland roads, linked by a network that becomes sparser as the land rises.
A Lupon map poster shows a coastal town with open country behind it. The shoreline forms a clear edge, the poblacion stands out as a small dense block, and the roads leading into the hills trace long, winding lines across the rest of the frame.
The coastline along the Davao Gulf runs across the map, separating the land from a broad area of open water.
The town centre forms a small regular grid near the shore, the most detailed part of an otherwise open composition.
Roads leave the coast and wind into the hills, connecting upland barangays and giving the map its long, curving lines.
