Garden-city avenues
The main avenues follow the gentle relief instead of a strict grid. They create soft curves and wide intersections that give the map a flowing, almost hand-drawn quality.

Maringá was designed before it was built. The urbanist Jorge de Macedo Vieira drew the plan in the 1940s for the land company developing northern Paraná, and he followed garden-city ideas. Broad avenues bend with the terrain, residential zones are set apart from the commercial centre, and there is generous space for trees and parks. From above, the layout still reads as a deliberate composition.
Two large green areas sit close to the centre: Parque do Ingá and the Bosque dos Pioneiros, both remnants of the original forest. Near them rises the conical Catedral Basílica Menor Nossa Senhora da Glória, one of the tallest church buildings in South America. The city was founded in 1947 and quickly became a regional hub for agriculture and trade.
A Maringá map poster shows why urban planners still study the city. The streets do not form a rigid grid. They curve, meet at roundabouts and frame the parks the way a setting holds a stone. In black and white the result is elegant and easy to read, a city whose shape was planned from the first line on the drawing board.
The main avenues follow the gentle relief instead of a strict grid. They create soft curves and wide intersections that give the map a flowing, almost hand-drawn quality.
Parque do Ingá and the Bosque dos Pioneiros appear as two large open shapes near the centre. Both are remnants of native forest that the founding plan kept inside the city.
The cathedral stands at the heart of the civic centre set out in the original design. The main avenues lead toward it, and its round footprint anchors the middle of the map.

Ko e hā ʻa Maringá
Maringá is a city people are proud of: green, orderly and still young. The map makes a good gift for people who grew up there, studied at its university or moved away to São Paulo or Curitiba and want the plan on their wall.
Personalise the title, add a subtitle with a date or a message, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Then choose one of five styles, from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download 300 DPI files or order a print.
