Massa lies in the far northwest of Tuscany, where the Apuan Alps drop steeply toward the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its map runs in clear bands: the historic centre at the foot of the mountains, the plain stretching a few kilometres to the coast, and the seaside district of Marina di Massa along the shore. Above the old town, the land rises abruptly into slopes and quarry valleys.
The old centre gathers around Piazza Aranci and the Palazzo Ducale, the former residence of the Cybo-Malaspina family, who ruled the small Duchy of Massa and Carrara. Higher up, the Castello Malaspina crowns a hill, its winding approach road standing out against the denser streets. The Frigido river runs down from the mountains through the town toward the sea.
Massa is the capital of the province of Massa-Carrara and shares with neighbouring Carrara a long tradition of marble quarrying in the Apuan Alps. On the coast, Marina di Massa is laid out in a regular grid of streets and beach lots behind the promenade. A Massa map poster captures the whole sequence, from mountain to sea.

The seaside district of Marina di Massa is laid out on a regular grid behind a long straight shoreline, a striking contrast with the irregular historic centre.
Steep mountain slopes rise directly behind the town, crossed by winding roads toward the marble quarries, giving the upper part of the map a dramatic density.

Massa is a place of summers on the coast and winters beneath the mountains, and people who know it tend to remember both. A map of the town captures that double character, sea and marble hills, in a composition that feels natural in any room.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files come in six sizes, from 30×40 cm to 24×36″, or order a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
