Naqadeh lies in West Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran, on the agricultural plain south of Lake Urmia. The Gadar River flows through the area toward the lake, and the town sits among cultivated fields, orchards and irrigation channels. From above, it forms a compact centre of streets surrounded by an even pattern of farmland.
The core has the denser, irregular layout typical of older towns in the region, while newer districts are more regular. A Naqadeh map poster captures both, set against the fine grid of fields and tracks that fills the plain around it.
Nearby is Tepe Hasanlu, one of the most important archaeological sites in Iran, where excavations uncovered a fortified Iron Age settlement and the famous Hasanlu Gold Bowl. The town itself is a regional centre for farming and trade, with Kurdish and Azerbaijani communities.
The river crosses the plain on its way to Lake Urmia, drawing a winding line through the fields near the town.
Irrigated plots and orchards spread across the flat land in all directions, producing a finely divided texture around the urban core.
The ancient mound of Hasanlu lies close to Naqadeh, a site whose Iron Age finds have made the area known far beyond Iran.
