Ko e mape
Niah lies in northern Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, between Bintulu and Miri. The settlement is small and grew beside the Niah River. On the map, a modest cluster of streets sits by the water, while roads head out through plantations and forest. Much of the surrounding land is green and lightly settled, with rivers and tracks as the main marks.
The name is best known for the Niah Caves in Niah National Park. The Great Cave is one of the most important archaeological sites in Southeast Asia, where excavations found evidence of human presence reaching back tens of thousands of years. The caves are also known for swiftlets and the traditional collection of their nests.
A Niah map poster shows a place defined far more by river and forest than by streets. The river meanders through the frame, the town gathers at one point on its banks, and beyond it the map opens into wide, quiet ground. That calm image suits the sense of deep time around the caves.
The river winds through the area and links the town with the national park, forming the strongest natural line on the poster.
The park protects limestone hills and the famous cave system. On the map it is a broad area with little road network, a clear contrast to the town.
Niah's streets form a compact cluster by the river, a small point of dense lines surrounded by forest and plantation land.

Niah appeals to travellers who have walked the boardwalk to the Great Cave, and to families from this part of Sarawak. The map is simple and uncluttered, with river and forest filling most of the space.
