Nkambe is the main town of the Donga-Mantung division in Cameroon's North-West Region. It lies on the high plateau of the Bamenda Grassfields, a landscape of rolling grassy hills, valleys and scattered woodland at considerable altitude. The climate is cooler than in much of the country, and the land is used for farming and grazing.
From above, Nkambe is an open, spread-out town. Roads follow the crests and slopes of the hills, and the built-up area is loosest at the edges, where compounds and fields mix.
