Obukhiv is a town in Kyiv Oblast, a short distance south of Kyiv, on the high ground west of the Dnipro River. It lies in gently rolling countryside cut by small valleys and ravines, with farmland and woods between neighbouring villages.
On a map, the town has two main parts. An older centre of low houses on irregular streets sits in and around a valley. Beside it, later districts have straighter roads and blocks of apartment buildings built with the town's industry. Main roads lead north to Kyiv and out towards the Dnipro, which a wider frame shows to the east.
The surrounding area is rich in archaeology: the villages along this stretch of the Dnipro are associated with the Trypillia culture, one of Europe's earliest farming societies. An Obukhiv map poster shows the town's everyday layout within that long-settled landscape.
