Orléans runs along the south shore of the Ottawa River, east of central Ottawa. From above, its streets are mostly a suburban weave of loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs, grouped into neighbourhoods by a few main roads. Highway 174 runs parallel to the river and separates the shoreline from most of the built-up area. Wooded stretches and parkland along the water soften the northern edge.
The community has long French-speaking roots, which is reflected in its name and in many of its street and parish names. It was once a village among farms and grew into one of the largest suburban areas in the National Capital Region. Farmland still shows at its southern and eastern edges, where the dense street pattern gives way to large open parcels.
An Orléans map poster captures a place with a clear shape: a river to the north, a highway spine and neighbourhoods fanning out to the south. The river is wide here, and the islands and marshes offshore add fine detail. For anyone who knows the area, the map is instantly readable. Individual crescents and parks stand out as the pieces that make up home.
The wide river forms the whole northern edge of the map. Islands, inlets and green shoreline give it a detailed, irregular outline against the neat suburban streets.
A straight expressway runs east to west, parallel to the water. It divides the riverside strip from the residential core and is the easiest line to follow on the poster.
Most of Orléans is laid out in curving streets and closed loops. They form rounded clusters that look almost organic compared with the grids of older cities.

For families who settled in Orléans or grew up there, this print shows the specific streets and parks they know, set against the river. It works well in a hallway or a child's room as a quiet record of home.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be edited to add a street name, a family name or a moving-in date. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Buy the $9 HD files or order a printed poster, with an optional wooden frame.
