Fishpond patchwork
Large rectangular ponds cover much of the land toward the bay, creating a grid-like pattern that looks almost like farmland drawn in water.

Paombong is a municipality in Bulacan, on the low, wet land just north of Manila Bay. From above, the town centre is a small cluster of streets, but the map is dominated by water: rivers and creeks wind through the area, and large rectangular fishponds cover much of the land toward the coast.
The town is widely known in the Philippines for sukang Paombong, a vinegar made from the sap of the nipa palm, which grows along the brackish rivers here. Fish farming and nipa cultivation have long been part of local life, and both show on the map in the patterns of water and land.
A Paombong map poster has an unusual texture. The fishponds form a patchwork of geometric shapes, the rivers cut curving lines through it, and the roads follow the higher ground between them. It is a map of a place shaped by tides and water as much as by streets.
Large rectangular ponds cover much of the land toward the bay, creating a grid-like pattern that looks almost like farmland drawn in water.
Rivers and creeks loop through the municipality, their curves standing out against the straight edges of the ponds.
The poblacion forms a compact knot of streets on firmer ground, the densest part of an otherwise open, watery landscape.

Many families from Bulacan now live abroad or in Metro Manila, and a map of Paombong is a way to keep the hometown close. The pattern of rivers and ponds is distinctive enough to feel personal.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example adding a barangay name. Choose any of five styles, from Classic black & white to Sand, and get 300 DPI files for $9 or order a printed poster.
