Pāppinisshēri lies in Kannur district in northern Kerala, on the banks of the Valapattanam River a short distance before it reaches the Arabian Sea. From above, the town is defined by water. The river's wide channel, smaller creeks and low wetland thread through the settlement, while houses and roads occupy the higher ground between them.
The pattern is typical of coastal Kerala, where the built-up area is spread out rather than concentrated. Homes sit among coconut palms along winding lanes, and the main road and the railway run through the town in long, steady lines. A bridge crosses the Valapattanam here, one of the key links on the route toward Kannur.
The riverbanks near town hold mangrove forest, protected in a well-known eco-park that has become a local landmark. A Pāppinisshēri map poster brings together the river, the rail line and the scattered neighbourhoods. It makes a gentle, flowing composition rather than a grid, suited to a place where land and water are never far apart.
The river is the dominant shape on the map, a broad channel with creeks and inlets branching into the low-lying land around the town.
Mangroves line parts of the riverbank near town. Their low, waterlogged ground leaves open spaces between the roads and the main channel.
The main road and the railway cross the town in long, parallel lines, carrying traffic between Kannur and the towns to the north.

Many Keralites work in the Gulf or in other Indian cities while keeping a home in their native town. A map of Pāppinisshēri, with its river and lanes, is a clear, personal reminder of where the family house stands.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps the name of the family house or a wedding date, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six sizes, and a matte print can be ordered with or without a wooden frame.
