Pateros is the only municipality in Metro Manila that is not a city, and also the smallest in area. On the map, it appears as a compact patch surrounded on all sides by the much larger cities of Taguig, Makati and Pasig. Its streets are tightly packed, with narrow lanes filling nearly every available space.
Water defines its edges and its past. The Pateros River runs along the area and connects to the Pasig River a short distance away, and the town's history is tied to these waterways. On a print, the river appears as a thin, winding line beside the dense block of streets.
Pateros is known for its long tradition of duck raising and the production of balut, a regional delicacy, along with the making of handcrafted footwear. A Pateros map poster shows a small, closely built town that has kept its own identity inside a vast metropolitan area.
Narrow roads and alleys fill almost the entire area, giving the map a fine, tightly knit texture with very little open space.
The river winds along the edge of town toward the Pasig, a slender curved line that recalls its waterside origins.
Larger cities surround the municipality on every side, so the map shows Pateros as a clearly bounded pocket within the capital region.

For people from Pateros, its small size is part of its character, and a map shows that distinct pocket of home within the sprawl of Metro Manila. It also works as a detailed, textured print.
