Phú Quý is an island district in the East Sea, off the south-central coast of Vietnam and a long boat journey from the mainland. On the map it appears as a small, compact landmass surrounded by open water. A road circles the island near the coast, and villages, fields and harbours are spread along it.
The island is of volcanic origin, and low hills rise from its interior. The coastline alternates between sandy beaches, rocky headlands and sheltered coves used by fishing boats. Most of the population lives close to the sea, and fishing has long been central to island life. Several small islets lie just offshore.
Phú Quý is also known for its wind turbines, which supply power to the island and were an early wind energy project in Vietnam. A Phú Quý map poster shows the entire island at once: the coastline, the ring road, the scattered villages and the sea around them.
Sandy beaches, rocky headlands and small coves make up the shoreline. Its irregular outline is the defining shape of the whole map.
A road loops around the island near the coast and connects villages, harbours and fields in a single continuous line.
Sheltered harbours along the shore hold the island's fishing fleet. They are the working heart of Phú Quý and its main link to the sea.

An island map is naturally striking, with its complete outline and the sea all around. For islanders and for travellers who made the long crossing, Phú Quý makes an especially personal poster.
