Ward-based layout
Neighbourhoods cluster around their own centres, following the Tswana ward tradition. On the poster this reads as a series of small, distinct knots of streets rather than one continuous block pattern.

Ramotswa sits in Botswana's South-East District, a short drive south of Gaborone and close to the border with South Africa. From above it does not form a neat grid. Homesteads, ward clusters and sandy lanes spread outward in loose patterns. A few tarred roads hold them together, carrying traffic north toward the capital and south toward the border crossing.
The town is the traditional seat of the Balete people. Its layout still reflects the ward system found in many Tswana settlements, where the kgotla, the customary meeting place, is central to community life. On a map this shows up as neighbourhoods that feel grouped rather than planned. Each has its own web of footpaths and short connecting streets.
A Ramotswa map poster draws all of this in fine black lines on a pale ground. The denser core thins out toward the edges, where scattered plots give way to bush and the valley of the Notwane River. It is a plain, honest portrait of a southern African town, drawn from real street data rather than from an idealised picture of it.

The main road north links Ramotswa with the capital. It is drawn as a strong line that anchors the town and gives the looser residential streets something to lean against.
Beyond the built-up area the map opens into sparse tracks and empty ground, a reminder of the dry savanna that surrounds the town on every side.

For people from Ramotswa, or anyone with family ties to the Balete community, the map is a way to keep home close. It shows the lanes you walked and the roads you took to school or to Gaborone, reduced to their essential lines.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a meaningful date, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
