Rāvu, usually written Rau, sits on the south-western edge of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, on the flat Malwa plateau. It began as a separate small town and is now closely tied to the city, and the map reflects that change. An older core of close streets sits among newer residential colonies with regular plots, laid out along the roads that lead toward Mhow and Pithampur.
The area is known as the home of the Indian Institute of Management Indore, whose hilltop campus lies along the Rau–Pithampur road. Large institutional grounds, highway corridors and the railway give the map strong lines and open spaces, while the colonies between them fill in with small, repeated blocks.
