Restrepo sits in Meta Department, north-east of Villavicencio, at the point where the Eastern Cordillera gives way to the Llanos Orientales. The town lies on the edge of the mountains, so its map shows two kinds of terrain: steep, folded ground on one side and the start of open, flat country on the other.
The town has long been associated with salt. Salt deposits in the surrounding hills were worked for generations and shaped its early economy, and the town still refers to that past. Its centre follows the familiar Colombian pattern of a grid laid out around a main plaza, which adapts where the ground begins to rise.
A Restrepo map poster shows the tidy central blocks, the roads leading down to the plains and towards Villavicencio, and the streams coming off the foothills. It makes a good piece for anyone connected to the piedmont of Meta.
The centre is laid out in regular blocks around a main square, the classic Spanish colonial plan that is still clear at poster scale.
On one side the terrain climbs into the foothills of the Eastern Cordillera, where roads start to wind and the grid breaks up.
Routes lead towards Villavicencio and out into the Llanos, linking the town to the regional capital and the open savanna beyond.

Ko e hā ʻa Restrepo
The piedmont of Meta is where the Andes meet the plains, and Restrepo sits right on that boundary. A map of it suits people who grew up here or have family in the region, and it looks clean on any wall.
