Shinshiro covers a large area of eastern Aichi, much of it forested hills. On a map, the settled parts cluster along river valleys, above all the upper Toyokawa and its tributaries. The mountains between them appear as wide spaces crossed only by a few winding roads. The city centre sits on flatter ground where the valleys open out.
Rail and road follow the rivers upstream, so the map reads as a set of narrow, branching ribbons of streets. A Shinshiro map poster shows that relationship between water, slope and settlement. The dense town centre anchors one side of the frame, and quiet valley communities extend into the hills.
Shinshiro is known for the Battle of Nagashino in 1575. It was fought on the plain of Shitaragahara, where Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu defeated the Takeda forces. The ruins of Nagashino Castle stand where two rivers meet. To the north, Mount Hōrai, with its temple Hōrai-ji, is an old mountain pilgrimage site.
The castle ruins occupy a bluff where two rivers meet. It was a natural defensive site and remains easy to spot where the waterways join.
The battlefield lies on open ground west of the castle site, now crossed by farmland and small roads that show the flat terrain at the centre of the story.
Homes and roads follow the narrow valleys into the hills, creating long, thin lines of settlement that branch through the forested landscape.

Ko e hā ʻa Shinshiro
Shinshiro appeals to history enthusiasts drawn by Nagashino, walkers who know Mount Hōrai, and families from eastern Aichi. The map pairs rivers and hills in a calm composition that sits well in a study or hallway.
Add a title, a subtitle such as '1575' or a family name, and the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper and Sand suit the historic theme, while Noir makes the rivers stand out.
