Shiroi lies on the Shimosa plateau in northwest Chiba Prefecture, between Kamagaya, Kashiwa and Inzai, within commuting reach of Tokyo. From above it is a mix of two landscapes: the curving avenues and cul-de-sacs of the Chiba New Town development near the Hokuso Line stations, and an older pattern of farm lanes that follow field boundaries and shallow valleys.
The city is best known for its nashi pears, and orchards still occupy a large share of the land. On a map these appear as open patches between residential clusters, lined by narrow roads that were laid out for tractors and delivery vans rather than through traffic. The rail line cuts cleanly through the middle, giving the composition a strong straight axis.
A Shiroi map poster captures that balance between planned suburb and working countryside. Station areas show tight, regular blocks; further out the lines loosen into a looser mesh of lanes and small woods. The result is a map with real contrast between density and space, which reads well in the quieter Paper and Sand styles as much as in Classic black & white.
The Hokuso Line crosses the city in a long, nearly straight run, with station districts forming compact clusters of blocks along it. It is the clearest single line on the map.
Shiroi's pear growing leaves wide gaps between neighbourhoods, laced with narrow farm roads. On the poster these open areas give the street network room to breathe.
Near the stations the planned Chiba New Town layout brings looping avenues and neat residential cul-de-sacs, a distinctly different drawing from the older lanes around them.

Shiroi is the kind of place people call home quietly: a commute to Tokyo, a garden, pears in late summer. A map of it is a personal object, recognisable to anyone who has walked from the station to their own street.
Personalise the title with a family name or the year you moved in, edit the subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF.
